A Chronicle of the Da Pinoys and Da Coconut Repablik of Da Pilipins
Looks like Senator Tito Sotto III does not stop on his path of vengeance against the Philippine Internet community by saying that he was the one who added the libel clause to the controversial Philippine Cybercrime Bill. It was clear that Sotto was “hurt” because of the treatment of the Philippine Internet community to him. Everyday, ridicule and satire were used by some bloggers in comedic effect against Sotto.
And here’s the big news, he will not apologise for adding the libel clause to the Cybercrime Bill. Not only that, the Cybercrime Bill will include provisions that will ban free music downloads and torrents. Sounds similar……….. to SOPA and PIPA.
And some of you folks will hail him as a champion of anti cyberbullying. Well it was not cyberbullying, it was his fault in the first place. He plagiarised a blog and denied it. He also stole a speech from Robert Kennedy on his attack against the RH Bill.
The Philippines has a population of 95 million people, which over a quarter of this population used the Internet. Usage of Facebook and Twitter was also very popular here, and there is no doubt that this bill will limit Internet freedom.
Because of the stupidity caused by some politicians, Anonymous launched several DDoS attacks against Philippine government websites. Bangko Sentral was hacked as well as some websites by the government. Anonymous demanded that the Cybercrime Bill be repealed.
The Human Rights Watch said that the bill will be a threat to civil liberties and it will give the Philippine government the right to sue anybody who dares to criticise the current society and its politicians today. In comparison this will be worst than Martial Law.
There were some people opposed to this bill because it was an outrage fad, but most of them opposed this bill because it will be similar to SOPA and PIPA. This is the evidence that Philippine politicians were idiots and can;t use technology properly and treated the Internet as a form of traditional media.
I encourage everyone to oppose this bill because it will hinder and crush the liberty of the Internet. Will the Philippine government wants its citizens to live in conformity and threatened its critics with this bill?
Will they establish a Stasi 2.0 here to preserve their power ? The bill was opposed by a large number of people, even Leftists. For now, i will make an alliance with some of the Left in opposition to the bill.
By the way if this bill will be implemented, websites such as Antipinoy.com, Getrealphilippines.com, correctphilioppines.com, my blog and several others will go to underground. Bullshit, Philippine society was now so fucked up.
And by the way, liking Facebook posts will be also a crime. I have a question, were the makers of this bill were high, drunk, lacked sleep or hungry when they created this shit?
