A Chronicle of the Da Pinoys and Da Coconut Repablik of Da Pilipins
Sleeping In Airports is always conducting a tally of the best and worst airports yearly. For the second time, NAIA Terminal 1, one of the Philippines’ major transportation hubs to welcome foreigners to this magnificent country, won the votes of the netizens regarding the Worst Airport in Asia. As said by a traveller:
There was lack of seat, but I slept on the floor on my own camping mattress. At this airport you have to have your itinerary to enter the terminal, i forgot it that day and so the police said if i give him 10 USD he’ll let me in
With the outdated architecture of the airport, low quality restaurants, sub standard facilities including inadequate sanitary facilities, there is no doubt that NAIA Terminal 1 is a horrible experience for travellers.
Travellers continue to complain about corruption, bribery and long waiting hours. Once inside, there will be no messing around as you will proceed to do some few businesses and proceed to your gate.
The chairs of the airport are also of poor quality, you cannot sleep well on it. And i am talking about personal experience way back 2011. We arrived at the airport at 6 am to fetch up my aunt who had just recently took a vacation leave after 8 days.
The complaints of the passengers are almost similar to our experiences. You need to bribe some personnel and you must be vigilant as some taxi drivers are total morons who will suck your money through their rigged metres using a gadget called batingting.
While the government responded with such a haste after they had heard the fiasco last year, the airport had changed very little. The offers of the architects to redesign the airport never materialised. Ningas Cogon mentality at its finest.
On the other hand, i recommend Terminal 2 and 3 for your pleasure. Terminal 3 is so modern, complete with several restaurants, Free WiFi which Terminal 1 also had, bookstores and shopping centres. My one complaint also, why they need to name an airport after a political oligarch? Do you know that it is more appropriate to revert the name of the airport again to Manila International Airport?
Not only the media worshipped the oligarchs like heroes, with several Filipinos are happy to the point that they want to kill themselves, a religious institution that opposes change, we have an incompetent administration that rules the country. I will not be shocked that our political situation is very shit and turning tyrannical every day.
It is such a laughable idea that the tourism slogan we promote is plagiarised and have a very ironic meaning. “More fun in the Philippines” is an irony, a contradiction to the true situation of our country. But still, majority of the Filipinos still frequently escape reality and delude themselves to illusions.
There is also no doubt that the media will report this news article regarding that NAIA was a shitty airport. Outrage will be heard again, with several chanting “Death to foreigners!”. Pinoy Pride will be on the rise again.
Filipinos grow up, deal with the reality. How come we call ourselves a great country if most of the people are living in a constant state of delusion? Some people will even justify the Cybercrime Law because of some ridiculous reasons.Where we shy away from politics, what because of the constant fear of the political dynasties? Paranoia regarding foreigners and despising intellectuals?
It’s time to rid those outdated ideals and move on. We are a country of idiots, anti intellectuals, hypocrites, liars, thieves and lunatics. In my opinion, the country is now plunging itself to wholesale destruction and degeneration. And you are still Proud To Be Pinoy?
The path to progress is a long way to go. The world will not wait for us to sit in the cushion of economic prosperity, stability and development. Get Real Philippines!
